Q.4 [4×1=4]
You are Vihan/Vinita of class IX. You were weak in English. You attended remedial classes. Your teacher asked you to deliver a speech on “Importance of Remedial Classes” in your school in 80 to 100 words. OR ‘Homework should be abolished.’ Debate this motion and write your views in rejection of it in 80 to 100 words.
Answer (Speech – Importance of Remedial Classes):
Respected Principal, teachers and my dear friends, I am Vihan of class IX. I want to speak on the importance of remedial classes. Earlier I was weak in English and could not understand the lessons properly. On our request, our teacher arranged remedial classes for weak students. In these classes, the teacher explained every topic again in an easy way. We were free to ask questions. Gradually I recovered my loss and improved my marks. Now I feel confident in English. Remedial classes are very helpful for weak students and they should be arranged regularly. Thank you.
Answer (Against the motion – Homework should NOT be abolished):
I do not agree that homework should be abolished. Homework helps students to revise what they have learnt in class. It builds self-confidence and good study habits. Teachers can check the homework and see the growth of the child. Good homework is thought-provoking and helps in getting quality education. It also deepens our understanding of the subject. Of course, homework should not be too much or boring. If it is given in the right spirit and in an interesting way, homework is very useful and should not be abolished.
