In 2040, Martian chief Think-Tank sends a probe to Earth. The crew lands in a library and misreads books as “sandwiches,” then “devices,” and finally a “secret code.” Decoding Mother Goose, Think-Tank imagines Earth can grow silver and explosives (“Mistress Mary”), train animals for space (“Hey Diddle Diddle”), and even predicts his own fall (“Humpty Dumpty”). Panicked, he cancels the invasion and flees. By the 25th century, wise Noodle replaces him and Mars befriends Earth.
